My name is Olivia Elia Quispe, and I am an artist and evolving entrepreneur with a passion for the role marketing, brand positioning, and creative direction play in bringing art to the forefront of culture. A junior at Brown University studying Modern Culture and Media and Entrepreneurship, I was born to Mexican, Peruvian, and Argentinian parents who taught me the value of spinning gold from straw: overcoming adversity to design immersive, elevated experiences that demonstrate the strategic and visionary power of the creative world-builder.

Since coming to Brown, I’ve embraced every opportunity for artistic experience, working around boundaries of access to make my vision come alive. I’ve gone from managing the Indie station at the country’s first ever college radio station, to writing and directing my first film with the country’s largest undergraduate student-run production company, to styling and shooting my own editorial fashion shoots independently. Having embraced these experiences to the fullest extent, you’ll now find me at their intersection–marketing and entrepreneurship–working for the venture incubator and marketplace teams at the Rhode Island School of Design’s creative entrepreneurship organization, RISD E’Ship.

An acronym for my first name Olivia, paired with the combined surnames of my mother and grandmother, Vasquez Arroyo, OVA is the name for my personal branding and artistic identity. A testament to feminine flamboyance, it speaks to art as need rather than art as desire, the moments when, in scarcity and crisis, the women that came before me drew on the tools available to them to build havens of expression and style.
